Professional Support & Education
Alongside direct client work, Being and Becoming OT offers supervision and education for practitioners and organisations working with neurodivergent children, young people and adults. Whether you're an early-career OT looking for thoughtful support, or a school wanting to better understand the children in your care, you're welcome here.
Each space is shaped by lived experience, over a decade of clinical practice, and a commitment to creating environments where people feel safe, understood and supported to grow.
Workshops & Education
We design workshops that respond to the needs of your community.
Our workshops for parents, clinicians, groups, schools and organisations are grounded in neuroaffirming values, lived experience and clinical practice — and are shaped around what feels most relevant and meaningful for you.
We also offer parent-focused workshops that support families to better understand and respond to their child’s needs with confidence, compassion and clarity.
Each session blends reflective learning with practical strategies, supporting participants to build confidence, connection and understanding.
-
Our workshops and education sessions are available to:
Schools and classroom teachers
Early childhood educators and services
Allied health teams and organisations
Parents and families of neurodivergent children and young people
Community groups and support organisations
If you're unsure whether a workshop is right for your group, reach out — we're happy to have a conversation about what would be most useful.
-
No two groups are the same, and our workshops reflect that.
Sessions are shaped around your community — your context, your questions, and what would be most meaningful for the people in the room. Whether you're looking for a focused one-hour session, a half-day workshop, or something that unfolds across multiple sessions, we'll work with you to find a format that fits.
Workshops are available in person across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens, and online for groups elsewhere. -
Topics we explore in workshops include:
Understanding neurodivergent ways of thinking, learning and relating
Sensory processing — what it is, how it shows up, and how to respond
Regulation and co-regulation — the adult's role in supporting a child's nervous system
Strengths-based approaches to behaviour and participation
Creating inclusive, neuroaffirming environments at home, in school and in community
Late diagnosis — what it means and how to offer meaningful support
Wellbeing and sustainable practice for clinicians and educators
Sessions blend reflective learning with practical strategies — grounded in lived experience and over a decade of clinical practice.
Clinical Supervision
Supervision is available for occupational therapists at any stage — including new graduates, early-career practitioners, students on placement, and other allied health clinicians working in neurodivergent-affirming or NDIS contexts.
Sessions are grounded in a neuroaffirming, strengths-based framework and offer space to explore complex cases, reflect on practice, and develop a clearer sense of the values underpinning your work. Supervision can be provided individually or in small groups, in person or via telehealth.
If you're unsure whether supervision with Maddy is the right fit, a brief introductory conversation is always a good place to start.
